Hence having a daily routine is important, specially in the morning when we are about to get up from sleep and start our day, because what we do in the morning defines how we function regarding certain events that may occur in the later time of the day. Having a routine can help us to cultivate positive daily habits to be a disciplined and a responsible human being. So without further ado, Here are the top 5 morning routines that you should do to function well throughout the day

  • MAKE YOUR BED

The very first thing that you do when you wake up is to make your bed, why? Because making your bed every morning makes you more productive and have you achieve this greater sense of well-being.  Although it is a “minor” commitment, it is a commitment that is needed to be accomplished first in order to move onto the next. There’s this saying that If you can’t do the little tasks right, you’ll never be able to accomplished the bigger tasks to come, because that one task that you dislike on  doing, if you did it, will turn into the one out of the many tasks you completed and be accomplished. And I guess it’s true for a fact that United States Navy Admiral William H. McRaven delivered a commencement speech himself at the University of Texas graduates, and according to him, explains that “If you want to change the world, start by making your bed.” Then he later go on and add that it does “give you a small sense of pride” and “encourages you to do another task” and he didn’t lie because that simple routine that everyone hates doing shows how disciplined, organized and responsible of a person you really are. It is not about the benefits of having a clean and orderly sheets that you would have this sense of pride of, No! It’s about starting your day with a focused and productive manner that will give yourself something to be satisfied with, through a task that you had just accomplished rather than leaving a mess and go on and complain about it the next time. It also gives you a sense of encouragement that no matter what you do, big or small, matters, as it persuades you to do something that will make tomorrow an even better place than what today is.

  • EXERCISE

The next step in improving every aspect and change the outlook of your life is to exercise because there is no doubt that a healthy body equals a healthy mind, thus, starting your day with a solid workout leads to a better diet and lifestyle choices which enables you to stay focused and determined to go after your goals and achieve them. 

When you wake up, don’t start your day by checking your phone or immediately drink coffee, get up and rather start moving because a physical activity in the morning causes blood to flow to the brain which promotes cell growth, it improves our concentration helping us concentrate better than others. It really does affect our brain in many ways indeed. With that said, a morning exercise not only improves our physical health but also improves our mood and gives us energy so we can function as great as we can be and prepare us to have a positive mindset in order to be productive throughout the day.  

  • COOK AND EAT A PROPER HEALTHY BREAKFAST

They said that eating breakfast is the most important meal of the day and why is that? Its because breakfast boosts your metabolism. It jump-starts your metabolism in the morning which gives your body and brain the refueling it needs after an overnight fast. And not only that but eating breakfast can also help keep your blood sugar levels stable during the day, so you might as well not want to miss your breakfast, because Skipping it will have you miss out on the important nutrients that you won’t make up later in the day, and thus, will make you likely to consume and overeat at subsequent meals which means more calories that would definitely made you add a few pounds more.

A morning meal is necessary not only for your body but for the brain as well. Eating a nutritious breakfast helps improve your cognitive function such as your concentration and your productivity. It also helps boost your energy levels and helps lower your stress down to function at their proper levels. Nonetheless, If you are always out and about and do not have time to have a proper breakfast, then eat an easy yet healthy snacks so you won’t miss out your first important meal.

  • SET YOUR MIND TO THINK POSITIVELY AND DETERMINED THROUGHOUT THE DAY

To be productive you have to set your mind to think that everything that is going to happen has a positive impact on yourself and even if there is a trial and tribulations coming underway, you’ll believe that every situation is only going to get better, and not for worse.

You have to set your mind to only focus on a positive note because having negative affirmations running through your head can affect your self-esteem and confidence and can lead your life in a very bad way which then affects your daily productivity. You have to train your mind and act like everything else is doing just fine, that no matter if things are not going really well for you as of the moment, it will only get better soon. Because your mindset has an effect on your life in the long run, so allow yourself to always see the brighter side of days because a bad thought will only get you nowhere. And now that I mentioned it, it got me thinking that what they said is right about our mind being a powerful thing and yes indeed it is, because it can transcend our negative thinking to become optimistic just by changing our thoughts and surrounding ourselves with positive people that contributes with our optimistic attitude and remove toxic people that can only affect us and our mindset because having an optimistic mindset can give us more confidence in ourselves, improve our mood and even reduce the likelihood of developing stress related disorders and sickness. So the more we have a negative mindset, the more likely we are to become the person we never wanted to be

  • LISTEN TO MUSIC

Listening to music has a mighty effect and benefit on our brain and how it functions, and it shows, because more than likely, listening to music helps us lift up our mood when we are down, it makes us happier and it reduces stress and lowers our anxiety by helping us relaxed and be put in a meditative state when we are stressing out. It also enhances our memories which makes it much easier for us to remember such things easily and not be forgetful, just because of the repeated rhythms in a song that makes it easy to memorize. Therefore, just by listening to music in such a way basically improves our overall state of mind and is a source of comfort for us all to function well throughout the day
